Job Description

Job Overview Join our dedicated healthcare team as a Geriatric Nursing Assistant in a long-term care (LTC) setting, where your compassionate care and clinical skills will make a meaningful difference in the lives of elderly residents. In this vital role, you will provide direct patient care, assist with daily living activities, and support the health and well-being of geriatric patients. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help create a safe, comfortable environment for our residents, fostering dignity and independence at every stage of aging. Duties Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote comfort and independence. Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature; document findings accurately in electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems). Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper handling and adherence to safety protocols. Use patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques to safely move residents. Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations while managing medical documentation and records. Provide dementia care and memory support tailored to residents with Alzheimer's or other cognitive impairments. Collaborate with nursing staff to identify changes in resident condition and communicate effectively using caregiver communication best practices. Assist with infection control practices including aseptic technique during procedures like catheter care or wound management. Support residents during emergencies using basic life support (BLS) skills and emergency protocols; participate in safety drills regularly. Engage in patient service activities that enhance quality of life, including social interaction and mobility exercises aligned with individual care plans. Experience Prior experience working with geriatric patients in long-term care facilities or nursing homes is highly preferred. Demonstrated competence in medical-surgical nursing or medical office settings is advantageous. Familiarity with hospice care, Alzheimer's/dementia care, and memory support techniques is desirable. Certification in basic life support (BLS), CPR and safe lifting practices are essential for ensuring resident safety.
Pay:
$18.00 - $21.50 per hour
