Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Caregiver / Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our full-time team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to providing high-quality patient care, demonstrating excellent communication skills, and maintaining a professional yet empathetic approach. This role offers an opportunity to work in diverse healthcare settings, including long-term care, assisted living, hospitals, and community-based environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting patient needs with precision, compassion, and adherence to all safety and confidentiality standards. Duties Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using appropriate patient transfer methods and equipment like Hoyer lifts. Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates while maintaining accurate medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems. Administer medications following prescribed protocols and ensure proper medication management in compliance with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards. Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, incorporating memory care techniques and ensuring a safe environment. Support patients in clinical settings such as emergency rooms, ICU units, or surgical recovery areas by assisting with procedures like phlebotomy or aseptic technique when trained. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in hospital medicine, hospice care, or outpatient clinics to deliver comprehensive patient-centered care aligned with physiology knowledge and nursing best practices. Maintain infection control standards through proper hand hygiene, safe handling of infectious disease cases, and adherence to universal precautions. Utilize EMR/EHR systems effectively for medical records management and ensure accurate documentation of patient care activities. Demonstrate proficiency in handling heavy lifting safely during patient transfers or equipment movement while practicing safe lifting techniques. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure clarity of care plans and foster a supportive environment. Experience Proven experience working as a CNA or caregiver within various healthcare settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home care environments. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges, including those requiring dementia or memory care services. Familiarity with medical terminology related to geriatrics, pediatrics, acute care, or sub-acute care settings is highly desirable. Prior exposure to EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for medical documentation is preferred. Demonstrated ability to perform tasks involving manual handling and safe patient transfer methods using assistive devices like Hoyer lifts. Knowledge of infection control practices specific to Level I Trauma Centers or critical care units such as ICU or PICU is advantageous. Experience administering medications and performing procedures such as catheter care or basic life support (BLS) certification is required. Background working in fast-paced environments like emergency medicine or urgent care facilities that demand quick decision-making and adaptability. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations along with maintaining patient confidentiality throughout all aspects of caregiving responsibilities.
