Job Description
Essentia Health is hiring a Nursing Assistant Student - LTC to support residents in a compassionate long-term care environment while you build core caregiving skills. Under the supervision of licensed nurses, you will assist with bathing, grooming, toileting, mobility, and feeding, measure and record vital signs, and document care in electronic records. You'll learn infection control, safe lifting, and communication techniques while working closely with an interdisciplinary team. This role offers structured learning, mentoring, and a pathway to Nursing Assistant certification within a mission-driven, patient-centered organization. Responsibilities Provide basic daily care including bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing, and feeding residents in long-term care Measure and record vital signs and report changes in resident condition to licensed nurses Assist with safe transfers, repositioning, and mobility using proper body mechanics and equipment Support residents' comfort, dignity, and emotional well-being through respectful communication and interaction Document care and observations accurately in electronic health records and unit forms Follow infection prevention, safety, and facility policies and procedures at all times Collaborate with nurses and the care team to carry out resident care plans Participate in ongoing training, skills practice, and coaching to prepare for Nursing Assistant certification Required Skills Basic patient care techniques Vital signs measurement Safe patient handling and transfer Infection prevention and control Electronic health record documentation Observation and reporting of patient status Communication with residents and families Team collaboration in clinical settings Time management in patient care HIPAA and patient privacy compliance
