Job description:
Certified Nursing Assistant If you're a compassionate people person and enjoy helping others, this role could be right for you. What does a Certified Nursing Assistant do? CNAs are primarily responsible for helping residents with ADLs, such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, eating, and moving. CNAs also move residents safely into beds and wheelchairs when they can't do so on their own. For bedridden residents, this may include turning or repositioning residents for comfort and prevention of bedsores. CNAs spend most of their time on their feet and will need to be able to lift residents using Hoyer Lift equipment. You will be trained to know the right way to perform these tasks to protect your residents, and yourself, from injury. You may measure a resident's blood pressure, pulse, and temperature, and then record their findings and report them to a RN to determine whether action is necessary. The daily direct contact you have with a resident also gives you the opportunity to identify bruises, blood in urine, and other injuries and report them to RN staff who can initiate care. Because you also spend so much time with a resident, you'll often provide compassion and comfort to those who are lonely, frustrated, or scared. The position involves a significant amount of physical activity and work.
