Job Overview Join our dedicated healthcare team as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) specializing in Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg) care! In this vital role, you will provide compassionate, high-quality support to patients across a diverse range of medical conditions within a fast-paced hospital environment. Your energetic and proactive approach will ensure patients receive attentive care, promote comfort, and support their recovery journey. Duties Assist registered nurses and physicians with patient care activities, including vital signs monitoring, hygiene assistance, and mobility support using safe lifting practices and patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts. Administer medications and treatments following established protocols while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards. Document patient information accurately using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks, ensuring medical documentation is complete and compliant with healthcare regulations. Support patients with activities of daily living, including feeding, dressing, and toileting, especially those with complex needs such as dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Perform basic clinical procedures such as catheter care, phlebotomy (blood draws), and aseptic techniques for infection control in accordance with hospital policies. Monitor patient vital signs regularly and report any changes or concerns promptly to the healthcare team to facilitate timely interventions. Assist in patient transfers using appropriate methods to ensure safety for both patients and staff, especially when working with geriatric or critically ill individuals in Level I or Level II trauma centers or ICU settings. Skills Proven experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioral health needs, or those requiring hospice or memory care. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS) certification to respond effectively during emergencies. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical recordkeeping and documentation. Excellent caregiver communication skills to collaborate seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams and provide compassionate patient service. Experience working in acute care environments like ICU, emergency medicine, hospital medicine, or post-acute care settings such as long-term care facilities or assisted living communities. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining proper body mechanics during patient handling procedures involving manual handling techniques like the Hoyer lift. Knowledge of infection control practices including aseptic technique and infectious disease care protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff alike.
