Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Night Shift Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to patient care, excellent communication skills, and a thorough understanding of clinical procedures. As a CNA, you will provide essential support to patients across various care settings, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals requiring medical and personal assistance while working within a dynamic healthcare environment. Responsibilities Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and comfort. Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems. Support medical staff by preparing patients for examinations and procedures, including assisting with phlebotomy and specimen collection when necessary. Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations and ensure proper documentation of care provided. Operate patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts safely while adhering to manual handling protocols to prevent injury. Observe and report changes in patient condition promptly to nursing staff or physicians, especially in critical care or behavioral health settings. Follow aseptic techniques during procedures to prevent infection transmission and ensure a sterile environment. Assist with medication administration under supervision, ensuring accurate dosage and documentation in medical records. Support patients with specialized needs including dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, or individuals with developmental disabilities. Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams across hospital medicine, long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, and home & community care environments. Experience Prior experience working as a Certified Nursing Assistant or in similar caregiving roles within hospital settings or long-term care facilities is highly desirable. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, PCC, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation and patient data management. Experience providing senior care, geriatrics, or working with geriatric patients is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to acute care, medical-surgical units, ICU, emergency medicine, or post-acute settings enhances performance. Hands-on experience with specialized procedures such as catheter care or basic life support (CPR), including safe lifting practices using equipment like Hoyer lifts. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers is advantageous. Proven skills in patient service delivery across outpatient clinics, inpatient units, hospice environments, or home & community care programs. Strong understanding of infection control protocols related to infectious disease care and aseptic techniques ensures safety for both patients and staff.
