Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) specializing in psychiatric care to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide direct patient care to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, ensuring their safety, comfort, and dignity. Your expertise will support treatment plans within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment dedicated to promoting recovery and well-being. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients with diverse psychiatric needs, including those with dementia, behavioral health conditions, and developmental disabilities. Duties Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using safe handling techniques and equipment like Hoyer lifts. Monitor patient behavior and vital signs regularly, documenting changes accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper procedures are followed for safety and accuracy. Implement specialized care protocols for patients with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other memory-related conditions, including memory care techniques. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and execute individualized care plans tailored to each patient's psychiatric and physical needs. Use de-escalation techniques to manage behavioral health crises effectively, ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff. Maintain a clean, safe environment by adhering to aseptic techniques during procedures such as catheter care or phlebotomy when applicable. Requirements Valid CNA certification with current licensure in good standing. Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral health conditions is highly preferred. Knowledge of psychiatric care practices including dementia care, Alzheimer's care, and memory care strategies. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation. Experience working in settings like long-term care facilities, psychiatric units, or hospitals—especially those involving acute or sub-acute care—is advantageous. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using proper lifting techniques; physical stamina is essential. Strong communication skills for effective caregiver-patient interactions and team collaboration. Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs measurement, and basic life support (BLS) certification are required. Join us to be part of a dedicated team committed to providing exceptional mental health support through compassionate caregiving! This paid position offers an engaging environment where your skills directly impact patient recovery journeys while fostering your professional growth in diverse healthcare settings.
