Responsibilities Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and comfort. Take and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates, following proper protocols. Support patient transfer methods using equipment like Hoyer lifts or manual handling techniques to ensure safety for both patients and staff. Maintain detailed medical documentation within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems while respecting patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations. Observe and report changes in patient condition or behavior promptly to nursing staff for appropriate intervention. Help with basic medical procedures such as catheter care, wound dressing assistance, or medication administration under supervision. Uphold infection control standards through aseptic techniques and proper sanitation practices across all patient care activities. Requirements Current certification as a CNA or T-CNA with valid state licensure; candidates in training must demonstrate eligibility for certification. Prior experience in long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, hospitals, or home care environments is highly desirable. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and medical terminology to ensure accurate documentation and communication. Knowledge of vital signs measurement, basic anatomy, physiology, and infection prevention practices such as aseptic technique. Ability to lift heavy loads safely using proper lifting practices; physical stamina for prolonged periods of standing or walking. Strong caregiver communication skills with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Experience working with diverse populations including geriatric patients, individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia or Alzheimer's disease is preferred.
