QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Required Nursing Qualifications Must possess a current and active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license . Must have an Associate Degree in Nursing or higher . Must have at least two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse . Nursing experience must include at least one (1) year of experience in a nursing home providing care to elderly and/or chronically ill residents .
Instructor / Teaching
Qualifications Candidates must provide documentation showing completion of at least one of the following: Certification to teach nurse aides; OR A trade school teacher license for nurse aide instruction; OR At least two (2) years of experience teaching nursing or nursing-related programs to adults in an academic setting approved by the Commissioner of Education; OR At least two (2) years of experience teaching nurse aides in a nursing home setting ; OR Successful completion of a professionally recognized course in teaching adult learners .
Candidates must also:
Provide proof of teacher certification when required for the Center's secondary education program. Have a minimum of one (1) year of teaching or related experience . Be appropriately certified, licensed, or accredited in New York State , as applicable to the position, or accredited by an appropriate professional trade organization. Meet all applicable instructor and program requirements, including any required New York State Education Department (NYSED) approval . Preferred Experience Previous Job Corps experience is preferred. Previous experience teaching, training, mentoring, or supervising students entering the healthcare field is a plus. Driver's License Requirement Must possess a valid driver's license and meet company insurability requirements. Physical Requirements This position combines classroom instruction with hands-on clinical skills training. Candidates must be able to perform the physical functions necessary to safely demonstrate and supervise CNA skills.
