Job Details KH Miamisburg | Full-Time | Days Responsibilities & Requirements The Health Unit Coordinator/Nursing Assistant (HUC NA) has a dual focus, a combination of the Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) and Nursing Assistant (NA) roles. They serve as a member of the interdisciplinary patient care team. The HUC NA supports patients with activities of daily living and performs patient care skills as delegated by the licensed nurse within the Ohio Board of Nursing Scope of Practice. The HUC NA also collaborates with unit leadership in coordinating the day-to-day activities of the patient care unit. This includes the processing of patient records and ongoing communication with nursing staff, physicians, and interdepartmental personnel. The HUC NA serves as a resource for physicians and other members of the health care team for the electronic medical record. The HUC NA is responsible for maintaining and demonstrating knowledge, skill, and ability of the delegated tasks. The HUC NA also supports department operational needs, and performs other duties as assigned. The HUC NA reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager. - Serve as a key customer service face on the unit. Provide customer service to both patients and families. Greet families, visitors, and customers, and consistently use HEAL when appropriate.

- Maintain regular contact with each assigned patient
- Regularly observe patient and environment, reporting any abnormalities to licensed nurse
- Assist with patient hygiene including toileting, bathing and maintaining patient cleanliness
- Ensure patient room is clean and free of clutter or obstacles
- Collect patient data as delegated. This includes accurate recording of vitals, blood sugar, intake/output, weights, and other measurements. If appropriate for your department may include EKG, Foley Catheter placement and measurement and phlebotomy. Promptly report any abnormal results to licensed nurse
- Assist with safe patient mobility including turning, ambulating, and moving up to chair
- Support patient treatments as delegated
- Assist in other daily needs of the patient, supporting the nurse to make sure needs are met
- Support unit daily operation needs including stocking, cleaning, breaking down rooms and changing bed linens, troubleshooting equipment issues, and daily down time computer checks.
- Consistently maintain infection control standards
- Coordinate patient care communication between patients, families, other departments, or healthcare team members related to patient care while maintaining HIPAA compliance, may include answering patient call lights as directed.
- Support clerical functions. Assemble and maintain patient medical records and documents related to patient care.
- Observe patient and environment regularly. Recognize issues and works with unit staff to address. Responsible for ECG and camera observation as appropriate, including reporting any abnormalities to licensed nurse.
- Support and document the patient admission, discharge, and transfer process.
