Job Description

Job Summary Provides basic nursing care under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. Requires knowledge, technique, and skills to therapeutically meet the needs of assigned medical-surgical patients. Responsible for performing a variety of assigned tasks. Must be able to identify each patient's age-specific needs and provide care appropriately. Job Specification Minimum Education Required A high school graduate or equivalent. Minimum Experience Required A minimum of 1 year experience with direct patient care preferred. Licensure/Certification Required Successful completion of an approved Certified Nursing Assistant Program preferred. Must be BLS certified required (or obtain within one month of hire). Skills Must demonstrate commitment to service excellence and performance improvement. Must demonstrate interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, families and other members of the health care team. Must possess the ability to utilize the hospital computer system. Must work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team to provide direct patient care and report patient changes to the Registered Nurse.
