A Nursing Assistant provides hospital and nursing home patients with basic care and assists them with daily activities. Helps patients with dressing, washing, and feeding. May perform basic medical care under the direction of a nurse or other medical professional. These roles typically require completion of a regional agency-approved training program in order to obtain a certification before practicing.

POSITION SUMMARY
To meet the physical and psychosocial needs of the residents based on the plan of care and instruction of staff and/or nurse.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Report at start of shift with pocket care plans/worksheet to receive shift report. Prioritize care with coworkers in assigned unit based on resident needs. Regular attendance is an essential function. Assist residents with the activities of daily living including but not limited to bathing, dressing, mouth care, toileting and transfers. Responsible for appropriate documentation of activities. Operating mechanical lifts to ensure the safety and comfort of residents while minimizing the risk of injury to nursing staff. Inform the nurse of any findings or observations while caring for resident i.e., skin tears, bruises, accidents, incidents, and change in status. Ensure competency by completing the state mandated 12 hours of inservices yearly. Awareness of safety hazards by maintaining a clean, neat and clutter free environment. Maintain friendly, professional attitude with residents, visitors and staff. Attend Resident Care Conference for unit. Assist with vital signs.
Qualifications:
Required:
Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to provide compassionate, resident-centered care. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred:
Previous experience in a senior living, long-term care, or healthcare setting. Experience caring for older adults. Experience with electronic health records.
