Personal Care Aide (PCA) / Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Start Next Week Hamptonroads Home Care Norfolk, VA Job Details Full-time $18 an hour 3 hours ago Benefits 401(k) Qualifications High school diploma or GED Driver's License Meal preparation CNA Bathing assistance Full Job Description We are looking for dependable, compassionate caregivers to provide personalized assistance to clients in their homes and community settings. Caregivers play an important role in helping clients remain safe, comfortable, independent, and engaged in their daily routines.
Schedule:
Wednesday-Sunday, 8 AM-12 PM Key Responsibilities Care is provided according to the client's individual service plan and under the guidance of a Nurse Manager. Depending on the client's needs, duties may include: Provide companionship, conversation, and supportive social interaction. Assist clients with walking, transfers, repositioning, and use of wheelchairs. Prepare meals and assist with meal planning, grocery shopping, and other nutritional needs. Help with personal care and daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and hygiene. Perform basic household tasks, including laundry, tidying, organizing, and light housekeeping. Provide medication reminders and help clients stay on schedule with their prescribed routines. Monitor and communicate notable changes in a client's condition, including intake and output when part of the care plan. Accompany clients to medical appointments, errands, and approved community activities. Documentation & Communication Caregivers are expected to: Record services and complete required visit documentation using the agency's electronic system. Promptly notify supervisory staff of concerns involving a client's health, safety, behavior, or overall condition. Participate in required staff meetings and training. Complete required continuing education and annual training. What We're Looking For We are seeking caregivers who are reliable, patient, respectful, and committed to providing quality care. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working independently in different home environments while adjusting care to meet each client's individual needs. Preferred Experience & Skills Previous experience working with adults or seniors in a caregiving or personal care setting. Experience caring for clients with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other memory-related conditions is preferred. Comfortable using a smartphone for scheduling, communication, and electronic documentation. Familiarity with relevant healthcare practices, standards, and regulations. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to maintain client confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Care is provided in clients' private homes and residential care settings. The position involves regular physical activity, which may include standing, walking, bending, assisting with mobility, and lifting or moving items or clients weighing up to 25 pounds when necessary. This is an in-person caregiving position. Remote work is not available. Minimum Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education. Current PCA certification or active CNA credential. At least one year of caregiving or direct care experience preferred. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Current automobile insurance. Current negative TB/PPD screening.
Pay:
$18.00 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 per week
