Job Description

SURGICAL SERVICES ATTENDANT - OPERATING ROOM
Position Summary:
The Surgical Services Attendant (SSA) will perform a variety of duties to assist the Operating Room Department. The SSA will be responsible for cleaning Operating Rooms which includes replacing suction SP canisters and trash can liners, cleaning the OR Suite, Wet vacuuming after each Operating Room procedure, cleaning equipment, and removing trash from the Central Processing Department's decontamination area. These activities require specific cleaning and infection control protocols. The SSA will assist with additional duties that may include but are not limited to; assisting clinical personnel in transferring patients to and from beds, wheelchairs or stretcher as requested, escorting and transporting patients to other hospital departments, assisting with removal of expired patients from units and transporting to morgue, responding to call lights and answering telephone promptly. The SSA must be willing to report back to work during any emergency situation, this includes if needed during inclement weather, mass casualty, internal disaster, etc. The SSA will complete other duties as assigned.
Education:
High School Diploma required.
Experience:
Previous experience in a hospital setting preferred. Previous specific experience with hospital patient transporting preferred. Previous specific experience with surgical services environmental services preferred.
Special Skills:
Exemplary core customer service skills strongly required. Strong verbal communication skills required.
