Medical Assistant / Nurse - Dermatology Scribing Experience Required |

Competitive and commensurate with experience Position Overview We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and highly organized Medical Assistant or Nurse to join our dermatology practice. This is a hands-on clinical position. The ideal candidate is an experienced medical assistant or LPN who is comfortable working directly alongside a dermatologist in a fast-paced clinical setting. Prior medical scribing experience using a digital electronic medical record is required. Dermatology experience and proficiency with Modernizing Medicine / EMA are strongly preferred. The successful candidate should be able to accurately document patient encounters in real time, anticipate provider needs, maintain efficient patient flow, assist with dermatologic procedures, and help ensure that the clinical team operates efficiently and consistently. Key Responsibilities Clinical & Scribing Responsibilities Work directly alongside the dermatologist during patient visits and scribe/document encounters accurately and efficiently in the EMR Document histories, chief complaints, examination findings, diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, procedures, and follow-up instructions Maintain accurate and timely documentation while keeping pace with a busy clinic schedule Room patients and obtain relevant medical history, medication history, allergies, and other appropriate clinical information Prepare patients and exam rooms for medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology visits Assist with dermatologic procedures including: Shave and punch biopsies Excisions ED&C procedures Cryotherapy Injections Suture placement/removal assistance Wound care and dressing changes Other in-office dermatologic procedures Prepare procedure trays and maintain appropriate sterile technique Properly label, handle, and process pathology specimens Provide patients with wound-care instructions, medication instructions, and other physician-directed education Assist with prescription requests, pharmacy communications, laboratory results, pathology follow-up, and patient messages Support prior authorizations and biologic medication workflows when necessary Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements Help coordinate clinical workflow to maintain efficient patient movement and minimize delays Identify workflow problems and proactively develop practical solutions Treat patients with compassion and respect Clinical Operations & Compliance Ensure exam and procedure rooms are clean, stocked, organized, and ready for use Monitor medical and surgical supply inventory and communicate ordering needs Ensure instruments are properly cleaned, sterilized, stored, and available Maintain appropriate logs and clinical documentation Help ensure compliance with: OSHA requirements HIPAA Infection-control standards Biohazard and medical-waste procedures Sterilization protocols Practice policies and clinical protocols Assist with clinical quality-control measures and chart review as appropriate Help ensure patient messages, pathology results, prescription requests, and other clinical tasks are addressed in a timely manner Required Qualifications Previous medical scribing experience is required Demonstrated ability to document patient encounters efficiently in a digital EMR while working directly with a provider Previous experience as a Medical Assistant, LPN, RN, or similar clinical role Strong knowledge of medical terminology Excellent computer and typing skills Excellent written documentation skills with strong attention to detail Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced clinical environment Strong interpersonal and communication skills Professional, dependable, punctual, and accountable Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a clinical team Strong patient-service skills and a professional bedside manner Strongly Preferred Dermatology experience Modernizing Medicine / EMA experience Previous experience scribing for a dermatologist or other high-volume outpatient physician Experience assisting with dermatologic biopsies, excisions, wound care, and other office-based procedures Experience training or onboarding clinical staff Familiarity with dermatology medications, biologics, pathology workflows, and prior authorizations Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) credential or active LPN/RN license, as applicable Schedule Full-time, in-person position. Specific clinic schedule will be discussed during the interview process.
