Responsibilities Assist patients and residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques. Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems. Support patient transfer methods ensuring safety and comfort while adhering to proper body mechanics and safe lifting practices. Administer medications as directed by nursing staff following HIPAA guidelines and maintaining patient confidentiality. Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other memory impairments, including engaging them in therapeutic activities. Assist with medical procedures such as catheter care, phlebotomy preparation, and basic wound care under supervision. Document all patient interactions thoroughly in medical records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and infection control protocols. Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including nurses, physicians, therapists, and social workers to deliver comprehensive patient-centered care. Requirements Valid CNA certification or license recognized by the state regulatory agency. Experience working with diverse populations including long-term care residents, geriatric patients, pediatric patients, or individuals with disabilities. Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with medical terminology is preferred. Demonstrated ability to perform safe lifting practices and manual handling techniques; experience with Hoyer lifts is a plus. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Basic life support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications such as CPR or first aid are advantageous. Experience in specialized areas such as ICU, emergency medicine, hospice care, behavioral health, or Level I Trauma Centers is highly desirable. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality following HIPAA regulations while managing medical documentation accurately.
