Job Description

First United Methodist Church New Braunfels is looking for a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Nursery Attendant to join our Children's Ministry team! Our nursery is an important part of our church family. We strive to create a safe, loving, and welcoming environment where our youngest children can learn about God's love while their families participate in worship and church activities. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with young children, works well with others, and understands the importance of making every child and family feel loved and valued. Position Responsibilities Provide attentive, loving care for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children. Create a safe, welcoming, and engaging nursery environment. Lead age-appropriate activities, including playtime, Bible stories, music, and simple crafts when applicable. Assist with diaper changes, feeding, and other basic childcare needs. Follow all church childcare policies and safety procedures. Maintain a clean and organized nursery space, including sanitizing toys and equipment. Communicate kindly and professionally with parents, volunteers, and ministry staff. Work alongside other nursery attendants and youth helpers to ensure children receive appropriate supervision. Assist with nursery check-in and check-out procedures. Arrive on time and be prepared to welcome children and families. Qualifications Experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschool-aged children preferred. A genuine love for children and a heart for serving families. Dependable, patient, and able to work well as part of a team. Comfortable caring for multiple children in a group setting. Strong communication skills and a positive attitude. Willingness to complete Safe Gatherings certification and required background checks. Ability to follow church policies regarding child safety, supervision, and appropriate behavior management.
