Duties Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using appropriate patient transfer methods and equipment like Hoyer lifts. Measure and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems. Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper documentation while maintaining patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Provide specialized care for patients with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other memory impairments, including memory care techniques and behavioral health support. Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures such as catheter care or wound dressing changes to prevent infection. Assist with patient transfers, positioning, and manual handling using safe lifting practices to ensure patient safety and comfort. Document all patient interactions thoroughly in medical records and communicate effectively with the healthcare team regarding patient status and needs. Requirements Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) from an accredited program. Experience working with geriatric patients in long-term care facilities or nursing homes is highly preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (CPR) certification required. Prior experience in diverse healthcare environments such as hospitals (including ICU, emergency medicine, trauma centers), assisted living facilities, or home care is advantageous. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/Epic/eClinicalWorks/Cerner) systems for accurate medical documentation. Strong caregiving skills with excellent communication abilities tailored to working with individuals with disabilities or behavioral health needs. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and adhere to safe lifting practices during patient transfers or manual handling tasks.
