Overview:
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is responsible for meal preparation, transferring wheelchair-bound patients, assisting with patient transportation to and from the center, providing routine personal care, maintaining a clean and safe workspace, and supporting patients with toileting needs. The CNA must comply with all state licensing requirements as well as all applicable state and federal regulatory standards necessary to perform these duties.
Qualifications:
Pediatric Work Experience preferred A valid CNA license under Texas Occupations Code, Chapter 301, with no disciplinary action. (Required) Valid certifications in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Basic First Aid. (Required) Current Driver's License Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) Experience - Preferred Demonstrate Excellent communication skills
Bilingual Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide age-appropriate personal care, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting. Assist with feeding, meal preparation, and monitoring nutritional intake according to each child's care plan. Support mobility and safety needs, including safe transfers, use of gait belts, and assistance with wheelchairs, walkers, or adaptive equipment. Maintain a clean, safe, and developmentally appropriate environment for all children. Take and record vital signs, weights, and measurements as directed by nursing staff. Observe and report changes in patient condition, behavior, or skin integrity to supervising nurses. Assist nurses and therapists with care activities approved for CNAs (e.g., positioning, range-of-motion exercises). Ensure proper infection control practices, including hand hygiene, cleaning equipment, and following isolation precautions when required. Assist physical, occupational, and speech therapists by helping prepare children for therapy sessions. Support children during therapeutic activities as guided by clinical staff. Encourage developmental and social engagement appropriate to the child's abilities. Assist with safely loading, unloading, and transferring children to and from center transportation, if applicable. Ensure children are properly secured in wheelchairs, car seats, or adaptive seating systems. Communicate effectively with nurses, therapists, and administrative staff to support coordinated patient care. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and PPEC regulatory standards. Follow all state licensure requirements, PPEC regulations, and organizational policies. Participate in training, competency reviews, and emergency drills.
