Responsibilities Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and comfort. Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems. Support medical procedures by preparing patients, maintaining aseptic techniques, and assisting healthcare professionals during treatments such as catheter care or phlebotomy. Ensure patient safety by using proper manual handling techniques and equipment like Hoyer lifts or patient transfer methods. Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality while documenting medical records and updating electronic health records (EHR). Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to provide updates on patient status and address concerns compassionately. Follow infection control protocols and safe lifting practices to prevent injury and ensure a sterile environment during all patient interactions. Experience Prior experience working with geriatric patients in long-term care facilities or nursing homes is highly valued. Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation. Experience providing care in diverse settings including hospitals (medical-surgical units, ICU, trauma centers), outpatient clinics, or home health environments. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS) certification is essential. Familiarity with specialized care areas such as dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, behavioral health, or hospice is advantageous. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and assist with patient transfers using appropriate equipment like Hoyer lifts or transfer boards. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays enhances your ability to deliver personalized care across all age groups including pediatrics.
