Director of Religious Education Job Overview and General Responsibilities :

Nursery attendant provides child care for our Religious Education Program on Sunday mornings. Care is provided for children Infant to 5 years old. Sometimes care will also be needed for special events on evenings and weekends but Nursery Attendants will only work these other events when mutually arranged with their supervisor and will require caring for some older children. Familiarity with childcare safety procedures and a willingness to create a warm, accepting atmosphere where trust is formed, helping our tiny ones to be comfortable and happy are essential traits.

Supervisory Responsibilities :

None.

Detailed Duties :

• Set up a safe and nurturing environment for children to explore and play
• Communicate professionally and appropriately with parents and guardians
• Respond to text, phone calls, or emails from supervisor in a timely fashion (within 24 hours)
• Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities :

• Age 18 or older Ability to work with others
• Experience in caring for young children and babies
• Certifications in Pediatric First Aid/CPR required. Additional trainings such as American Red Cross Babysitting or similar Child Care training experience preferred.
• Dependable and responsible - must have reliable transportation
• Communicates well verbally and in writing
• Experience with early childhood education services through high school or college curricula
• Warmth and caring for children, infants and their families

Pay and Benefit Category :

• Intermittent/Casual when the incumbents work less than 150 hours/year and consequently neither benefits nor UUCV leave plans are applicable.
• Sick leave will be provided per Washington State laws.
• An hourly rate will be set each year during the budget process at the State minimum wage or slightly higher and adjusted if required by law on January 1.
• A Nursery Attendant may not work to provide childcare at UUCV as a volunteer under any circumstances.
