Educational Assistance Program Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Full time: 40 hours/wk position working in GI and Pain. 8-hour shifts, Monday-Friday, typically 0700-1530 but can vary at times based on schedule. Will require nightly call (once per week), weekend call (every 4th weekend (Fri-Mon) and holiday call (2 holidays per year). •Call requirement means that you must be able to receive the phone call and be onsite in 40 minutes. Position will involve approximately 70% GI procedures (upper/lower endo and colonoscopies, scope cleaning) and 30% pain procedures (local injections, RFA procedures, neuro stimulator implants). What You'll Do Assist with surgical, diagnostic, and pain management procedures, including injections, neurostimulator implants, RFAs, vertebroplasties, kyphoplasties, and specimen collection/handling. Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures, perform point-of-care testing, record results, and provide age-appropriate care under RN/physician supervision. Prepare and maintain procedure rooms, ensuring proper setup, sterilization, high-level disinfection, reprocessing, and adherence to infection control standards. Operate, clean, calibrate, troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance on procedural equipment, scopes, ultrasound, and endoscopy systems. Support patient care activities, including positioning, transport, pre-procedure education, prescription requests, and answering routine questions. Manage supplies and inventory by ordering, stocking, receiving, and maintaining adequate departmental and procedural resources. Complete documentation and clerical responsibilities, including procedure records, images/videos, patient charges, scheduling, phone support, patient reminders, record management, and safety initiative participation Required Qualifications GI Technical Specialist (GTS) certification issued by SGNA by completing the SGNA Associates Program needs to be obtained within 6 months. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required. High School Graduate. Typically requires 1 year of experience in a nursing assistant, medical assistant or similar patient care position. Typically requires 2 years of experience in patient care that includes experiences in administering injections, IV insertions and knowledge of prescription medications and dosage instructions.
