Job Description

Job Summary This 4-week Certified Nursing Assistant Program is designed to educate students through classroom/clinical experience and preparing students to pass their certification. This role is temporary, and not a permanent placement vacancy. Responsibilities Core Duties Assists residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and mobility. Obtains and accurately documents vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and weight. Performs basic nursing care procedures within the scope of training and under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, including restorative care, and thermal applications as directed. Observes residents for changes in condition and promptly reports concerns to the instructor. Assists with positioning, transfers, ambulation, and range-of-motion activities to promote resident comfort and mobility. Documents care provided accurately, timely, and in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements. Maintains resident confidentiality and protects sensitive health information in compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies. Participates in planned recreational, social, and therapeutic activities while encouraging resident engagement and documenting participation as appropriate. Maintains a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents by following infection prevention, safety, and environmental standards. Demonstrates respect, compassion, and professionalism when interacting with residents, families, visitors, and members of the healthcare team. Supports quality improvement initiatives and adheres to departmental policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care to adult and geriatric residents. Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of the position. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Program Information The program length is 4 weeks. Only 10 students will be accepted into this program. Work schedule is Monday to Friday (36 hrs per week). Students can only miss 1 day of class and 1 day of clinicals while in training status. Any day missed will have to be made up to allow for the OHFLAC required hours of training. (OHFLAC gives them two years to take the exam, however if working in a facility they can only work for 4 months before passing the exam). Your first employer is required to pay for the certification; if you fail the certification the student is responsible for payment. The exam is $140. Employment beyond the program length is not guaranteed and is pending program availability Working Conditions Heavy lifting and carrying Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching Lifts, positions, pushes, and/or transfers patients Lifts supplies/equipment Subject to varying and unpredictable situations May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances Exposed to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries and illness) Education High School Diploma or GED (Formalized training or relevant experience will be accepted in lieu of high school diploma)
