POSITION SUMMARY

POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the management of resident care services in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. Will ensure all residents receive assistance with activities of daily living and physical and mental health as needed. Will support residents to maintain their highest level of independence. Will coordinate with physicians, hospitals, and health care agencies to provide care services to residents. Manage department staff including hiring, scheduling, and performance appraisals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Successful performance requires satisfactory completion of all essential duties and responsibilities. The essential duties described below are representative of the skills and ability necessary while performing the basic functions of the position.   • Responsible for providing timely care services to residents in accordance with federal and state regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Must keeping required licenses and certifications current. Maintain current knowledge of changes and advancements in the industry, including knowledge and understanding of dementia care.
  • Recruit, hire, evaluate, schedule, provide timely performance appraisals, and supervise care department employees in accordance with company policy and procedures.
  • Provide sufficient orientation for employees to ensure their knowledge of company values, goals, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide training for all staff to make certain all care services, delivery of medications, record keeping, and emergency procedures meet or exceed federal, state and company guidelines.
  • Ensure that schedule provides adequate staffing in accordance with federal and state laws and company policies and procedures.
  • Provide for coverage when staff is absent to ensure completion of essential duties.
  • Complete assessment of new residents to ensure they are appropriate for the community based on current licensing, regulations, and company policies. Including pre-admission appraisal, completion of care services plan, and ensure that all required medical records and move-in forms are obtained. Ensure all requirements per Title 22 have been met and resident is appropriate for admission.
  • Provide periodic assessments of all residents and monitor residents for a change in status to ensure all care needs continue to be met.
  • Monitor each resident through continual observations and periodic assessments and communicate any change of status with physicians, health care agencies, families, and Executive Director. Communicate the physical and mental care needs of residents and the department's ability to provide the necessary services.
  • Keep resident files current and provide adequate progress notes. Ensure all assessments are current, service plans are updated timely, and all documentation is complete and accurate. Provide resources and case management for each resident and their families. Coordinate with physicians, hospitals and health care agencies to obtain new orders and provide appropriate level of care to each resident.
  • Coordinate medication management with physicians and pharmacies, as well as residents and families as needed. Manage the delivery, central storage, and disposal of medications.
  • Communicate the policies and procedures of the medication management system and use of contracted pharmacy for packaging.
  • Keep current list of residents using oxygen tanks. Include in emergency preparedness plan.
  • Participate in state licensing surveys.
  • Assist in the preparation of department budget and management of costs.
  • Assure confidentiality in all matters, including but not limited to employee and resident information.
  • Participate in daily management meetings to communicate key issues within the community.
  • Maintain compliance with all Federal (Title 22) and state regulations and company policies and procedures applicable to job duties.
  • Assist sales and marketing by providing community tours, promoting programs and activities, and participation in marketing events.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for all staff, residents and guests, following established safety standards.
  • Encourage teamwork among all departments and assist with conflict resolution.
  • Present positive and professional image.
  • Per State of California regulations, as a "mandated reporter" you must report all known or suspected incidents of resident abuse of dependent adults or elders.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and consistent with the success of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Age Requirement:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Education:
Prefer RN or LVN license or two (2) years college education in human services or health care field. First Aid Training as required.
Experience:
Prefer at least two (2) years experience providing residential care to the elderly. Additional experience in specialized dementia care preferred.

Mathematical/Reasoning Skills:
Able to perform calculations for budget and financial responsibilities, understand and define problems, collect data and resolve issues in stressful situations. Communication Skills Clearly and informatively communicate complex ideas to a diverse audience (employees, residents, family members, and agencies in writing and verbally. Analyze and interpret complex information and respond appropriately. Computer Skills Proficient in operating office equipment and computers including email, word processing, excel applications.
Working Conditions:
Well-lighted and with appropriate ventilation and temperature levels.
Other Requirement:
Employee must pass a criminal record clearance, health screening and drug testing prior to beginning work in the community.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to regularly listen and speak to individuals, sit and stand for long periods, move about the community, bend, reach, and grasp.
