Job Description

General Purpose The Nursing Home Administrator and Preceptor is responsible for the overall management and operation of a skilled nursing facility. This executive leadership role ensures regulatory compliance, high-quality resident care, operational efficiency, and financial performance. The Administrator oversees all departments, fosters a positive workplace culture, and serves as the primary liaison for residents, families, staff, and regulatory agencies. Responsibilities Leadership & Management
  • Direct and oversee the day-to-day operations of the facility.
  • Lead department heads, providing strategic guidance and performance oversight.
  • Promote a positive, professional, and collaborative environment for residents and staff.
  • Implement and monitor policies and procedures in alignment with regulatory requirements.
  • It is the responsibility of the preceptor to assure each monthly and final completion report is completed correctly, completely and accurately.
  • The preceptor is solely responsible for ensuring that the AIT complies with the laws and rules of the Board, and must attest to such compliance on monthly reports as well as upon a final completion report of the AIT program. Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local health and safety regulations, including CMS, OSHA, and HIPAA.
  • Coordinate and prepare for surveys, inspections, and audits.
  • Develop and implement corrective actions and quality improvement plans.
  • Monitor resident care, safety, and satisfaction metrics to ensure high-quality outcomes. Financial Management
  • Develop, manage, and monitor the facility's budget.
  • Oversee billing, collections, and reimbursement processes (Medicare, Medicaid, private pay).
  • Implement cost-control measures and monitor financial performance.
  • Manage census and marketing strategies to support occupancy and revenue goals. Human Resources
  • Recruit, hire, train, and retain qualified personnel.
  • Manage employee performance, disciplinary actions, and professional development.
  • Oversee staff scheduling to maintain appropriate staffing levels.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and respect. Resident & Family Relations
  • Foster high resident satisfaction and engagement.
  • Communicate effectively with residents and families regarding care, services, and concerns.
  • Address complaints and grievances promptly and professionally.
  • Support and uphold resident rights and dignity. Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Current and valid Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) license in the state of operation.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of leadership experience in skilled nursing or long-term care.
  • Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid regulations, MDS processes, and reimbursement structures.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, financial, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and build a culture of care and excellence.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and long-term care software.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required to perform the essential functions of this position.
  • Be currently licensed in Georgia as a Nursing Home Administrator with no disciplinary actions taken against the applicant's license which the Board deems to be of such a nature as to prevent the applicant from providing services as a Preceptor.
  • Be employed as a licensed Nursing Home Administrator for five (5) years with the final year of practice being in Georgia.
  • Be employed and working full time at the Georgia Board approved AIT Training Site.
  • Have successfully completed the "Nursing Home Administrator Preceptor" course through the Georgia Health Care Association (GHCA).
