Director of Clinical Services -
Assisted Living FT M-F Location:
Mulvane, KS, 67110 Position Summary Manages, coordinates, directs, and maintains an efficient, productive, and organized clinical structure. Shall have administrative authority over and responsibility for the functions and activities of the nursing department for Assisted Living. Responsible for maintaining community compliance based upon regulations governing the community. Responsible for developing and adhering to departmental budgets within community guidelines. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team and management team. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Directs the design of clinical service delivery systems and the standardization of key clinical components for Assisted Living. Provides a high level of clinical competency and serves as the clinical subject matter expert for Assisted Living. Provides professional leadership, expert consultation, in-depth education and guidance to Villa Maria/Maria Court clinical and operation teams. Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and other governing agencies governing the community healthcare delivery. Provides support for community leadership regarding all aspects of clinical services. Functions as collaborative member of the Clinical team, to continually evaluate and improve quality nursing care services. Ensures that community is prepared for annual survey and assists with the development of plans of corrections. Supports community with Electronic Health Record and available to assist if problems arise. Ensures appropriate clinical documentation for community and provides educational support. Assists and participates in the QAPI process, ensuring quality performance, conformance with regulations and standards and a positive customer experience. Reviews Quality Measure reports and community scorecards. Monitors community staffing patterns to ensure the correct amount of associate hours to provide care for residents. Supports community in maintaining census at or above budget. Understands current payer sources for our residents. Ensures the community remains in a "survey-ready" state and anticipates support needed for a positive survey. Oversees community plan of correction processes following annual or complaint surveys for cited deficiencies. Reviews all plans of correction for accuracy and appropriateness prior to submission to the regulatory agency. Supports community when there is a clinical concern and provides guidance to appropriate resources for our residents. Participates in the development and presentation of clinical education, clinical systems and policies and procedures as requested. Participates in the clinical department budget development for the community. Reviews budget on a regular basis for community and makes recommendations as needed. On-Call responsibilities Other duties as assigned. Management Responsibilities Coaches and provides career development to staff. Coordinates appropriate staffing levels. Establishes employee goals and conduct employee performance reviews. Responsible for staff scheduling to include: work assignments, employee training, time off, breaks and overtime assignments. Schedules and conducts department meetings. Supervises staff in accordance Maria Court policies and procedures. Education and/or Experience Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required. BSN from an accredited college or university preferred. Three years nursing management experience in senior care preferred. Experience with current and emerging delivery systems with capability of implementing changes as needed. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Current Kansas licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), which must be in good standing. CPR Certification required, or obtain within thirty (30) days of start of employment. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Thorough knowledge of state and federal regulations and reimbursement. Must possess strong collaborative, interpersonal, organizational, multi-tasking, verbal and written communication skills, and a desire to create a high-performance, effective team that can produce consistent, demonstrated results. Must demonstrate on an ongoing basis the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with co-workers and ministry leadership. Competencies needed for this position include strong interpersonal relationship skills, detail oriented, work in collaboration with others, demonstrate a high degree of integrity and personal commitment, possess strong analytical skills, be able to work independently and manage multiple deliverables at the same time. Ability to function in a matrix environment and demonstrate a passion to succeed, be self-motivated, dependable, committed, and a willingness to see a project through to its conclusion. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, 25 pounds frequently and 7 pounds constantly. Required to obtain assistance of another qualified employee when attempting to lift or transfer objects over 25 pounds. Occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds above the head. Requires constant hand grasp and finger dexterity; frequent standing, walking, pushing and repetitive leg and arm movements, occasional bending, reaching forward and overhead, crouching and kneeling. Occasionally required to sit in a stationary position. Tolerate standing and walking for up to 8 hours at a time on hard and soft surfaces. Frequently able to communicate verbally and in written form. Frequently able to detect and discern both loud and soft sounds such as voices and phone calls. Frequently able to use all types of vision, such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception, to complete daily tasks. Constantly required to detect unusual odors that could indicate environmental issues.
Working Conditions Category I:
Position is Category I of Potential Exposure. Use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required for every employee engaging in Category I tasks. Frequently exposed to blood, body fluids, fumes, or airborne particles, and sharp objects potentially contaminated with blood borne pathogens or other infectious agents. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is generally performed in an indoor, well-lighted, well-ventilated, heated and air-conditioned environment. Subject to frequent interruptions by staff, residents, visitors, and volunteers. Subject occasionally to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, staff, and visitors.
