Job Description

The Gardens at Barry Road has an opening for a full time
CULINARY SERVICES DIRECTOR
in our compassionate, faith based, non-profit assisted living community in Kansas City. Our Culinary Services Director will be responsible for the day-to-day functioning of the culinary department in our 140 bed assisted living and memory care community. At The Gardens at Barry Road, it is our mission to provide excellent customer service delivery to seniors and their families with care that meets the specific needs of the residents, and a community environment that is "home."
Job Duties:
Creates, plans, and implements all functions of the culinary services department. Establishes and maintains high standards of menu planning, food purchasing, storage, preparation, service, sanitation, and maintains an adequate stock of all necessary items. Follows budgetary guidelines and looks for ways to improve food costs without compromising on quality and customer service. Recruits, interviews, hires, evaluates, coaches, and terminates employees following community procedures. Orients, trains, and supervises all culinary services personnel so that they may do their jobs effectively. Establishes and maintains a safe, clean, and healthy environment following all state, federal, local and community policies and procedures and laws for culinary services departments. Is familiar with all chemicals and handles them in a safe manner according to policies and procedures and MSDS. Maintains confidentiality of residents' personal information in and out of the community and protects and supports residents' rights. Maintains a professional appearance by dressing in required dress protocol and assures all staff is professionally attired in appropriate uniforms. Maintains a professional demeanor that encourages a positive nurturing environment for the residents, families, vendors, and guests.
Job Requirements:
At least five years experience in institutional food service preferably in a senior living community. Two years supervisor experience to include payroll, food and labor cost/control, scheduling, menu planning, food and supply ordering and employee relations. Must be knowledgeable of and skilled in food preparation, food storage and operation of kitchen equipment. Must have a current driver's licenses with ability to safely pick-up supplies and food as necessary. Ability to work independently, maintaining a positive attitude in an environment that can be stressful and demanding.
