We are seeking an experienced, mission-driven Executive Director to lead a thriving community and oversee all aspects of operations, resident experience, team development, and financial performance. This is a search for a hands-on leader who brings strong operational judgment, a passion for serving older adults, and the ability to build an engaged, high-performing team. The Executive Director will serve as the face of the community—creating a welcoming environment for residents and families while ensuring exceptional service, regulatory compliance, occupancy growth, and a positive workplace culture. Position Overview The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership and management of a senior living community. This individual will guide daily operations, develop and retain team members, support resident satisfaction, maintain compliance with applicable regulations, and achieve community occupancy and financial goals. The ideal candidate is visible, approachable, organized, accountable, and comfortable balancing resident-centered care with business and operational priorities. Key Responsibilities Provide overall leadership and direction for community operations, including resident services, dining, maintenance, life enrichment, sales, and administration Create a warm, welcoming, service-focused environment for residents, families, visitors, and team members Lead, coach, develop, and retain department leaders and community staff Promote a strong culture of teamwork, accountability, compassion, communication, and continuous improvement Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, company policies, and licensing requirements Oversee resident satisfaction, family communication, and timely resolution of concerns Partner with the sales and marketing team to support occupancy growth, move-ins, community outreach, and census goals Monitor operating performance, manage the community budget, control expenses, and support financial objectives Review staffing needs, scheduling, payroll practices, and labor management to ensure appropriate coverage and service quality Conduct regular team meetings, leadership meetings, resident meetings, and family communications Collaborate with regional leadership and home office partners to execute company initiatives and operational priorities Maintain an active presence throughout the community and model exceptional customer service Support emergency preparedness, incident response, risk management, and quality-improvement initiatives Build positive relationships with local referral sources, healthcare providers, vendors, and community partners Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Gerontology, Hospitality, Nursing, or a related field preferred Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, multifamily, or a related service-focused environment Previous Executive Director, Administrator, General Manager, Assistant Executive Director, or senior operations leadership experience preferred Knowledge of senior living operations, resident services, occupancy management, team engagement, and regulatory requirements Required state administrator license or certification, if applicable for the community and state Demonstrated success leading teams, managing budgets, improving operational results, and delivering excellent customer service Strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills Ability to build trust with residents, families, team members, and external partners Proficiency with Microsoft Office and workplace technology systems Ability to pass required background checks, drug screening, and other pre-employment requirements, as permitted by law Preferred Leadership Traits Compassionate and resident-centered Highly visible and engaged in daily community life Confident leading through change and solving operational challenges Financially and operationally accountable Skilled at developing managers and building strong teams Professional, dependable, and approachable Passionate about improving the lives of older adults
