In Person Overview We are seeking a dependable, experienced, and compassionate Home Manager to oversee the daily operations of a residential home supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioral challenges, aging needs, and/or health challenges. The Home Manager is responsible for ensuring the home operates safely and efficiently while providing individuals with quality, person-centered support. This position requires strong leadership, excellent communication, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm and professional when managing challenging behaviors or unexpected situations. The ideal candidate is someone who can lead by example, hold staff accountable, communicate effectively with families and supervisors, and create a positive and structured environment for both individuals supported and staff. Key Responsibilities Oversee the day-to-day operations of the assigned residential home. Ensure individuals receive safe, respectful, person-centered care. Supervise, support, and provide direction to DSP staff. Ensure adequate staffing and communicate staffing concerns promptly. Assist with staff scheduling, call-outs, coverage, and maintaining appropriate staffing levels. Ensure staff follow all agency policies, procedures, and plans of care. Monitor the condition, cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of the home. Complete routine home inspections and address concerns promptly. Ensure adequate household, personal care, medical, and food supplies are maintained. Monitor medication administration and documentation for compliance with agency requirements. Ensure required documentation is completed accurately and on time. Review staff documentation and address missing, incomplete, or inaccurate information. Report incidents, behavioral concerns, injuries, medication concerns, and other significant events according to agency policy. Communicate effectively with supervisors, families, conservators, healthcare professionals, therapists, and other members of the individual's support team. Attend and participate in required meetings, trainings, and appointments. Assist with training and onboarding new staff. Coach staff regarding performance, professionalism, documentation, attendance, and job expectations. Address staff concerns and performance issues appropriately and through the proper chain of command. Maintain confidentiality and protect the privacy and dignity of individuals supported. Behavioral Support Experience Experience working with individuals who have significant behavioral challenges is strongly preferred. The Home Manager must be comfortable supporting individuals who may display aggression, self-injurious behaviors, property destruction, elopement, verbal escalation, or other challenging behaviors. The successful candidate must be able to: Remain calm and professional during behavioral crises. Recognize behavioral triggers and warning signs. Follow Behavior Support Plans and other approved interventions. Properly redirect and de-escalate challenging behaviors. Support staff during difficult behavioral situations. Ensure staff are following approved behavioral strategies consistently. Communicate behavioral concerns to the appropriate supervisor and clinical team. Document behavioral incidents accurately and objectively. Help create a structured, consistent, and supportive environment. Understand that challenging behavior requires patience, consistency, professionalism, and teamwork. Qualifications Previous experience as a Home Manager, Lead DSP, Supervisor, or similar leadership role is preferred. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or significant behavioral challenges is strongly preferred. Experience supervising or leading direct-care staff. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately. Ability to work independently while maintaining communication with upper management. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize urgent matters. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Ability to maintain professional boundaries with individuals, families, and staff. Must be at least 18 years old. Must pass a required background check. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Valid vehicle insurance is required. Must be willing to complete all required agency training and certifications. Leadership Expectations We are looking for a Home Manager who will lead—not simply manage.
The Home Manager must:
Set a positive example for staff. Hold staff accountable while treating everyone with respect. Address problems instead of ignoring them. Communicate concerns promptly through the appropriate chain of command. Be dependable and available to the team when needed. Maintain professional relationships with families and members of the support team. Ensure the home remains organized, clean, safe, and properly staffed. Promote teamwork and a respectful workplace. Advocate for the individuals supported while maintaining agency standards.
