Job Description
The Executive Director serves as the operational and cultural leader of the community, responsible for delivering exceptional resident experiences while driving financial performance, regulatory compliance, employee engagement, and operational excellence. This leader inspires high-performing teams, fosters a culture of accountability and service, and ensures the community consistently exceeds the expectations of residents, families, and ownership. The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader with strong business acumen, a passion for senior living, and a proven ability to build teams, improve performance, and achieve measurable results. Primary ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Operations Provide visionary leadership that promotes a positive culture focused on resident satisfaction, team engagement, and operational excellence. Direct the daily operations of the community while ensuring high-quality resident care and services. Build, mentor, coach, and develop department leaders to achieve organizational goals. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Ensure the community consistently presents a safe, welcoming, clean, and "show-ready" environment. Resident & Family Experience Develop strong relationships with residents, families, and referral partners. Promote exceptional customer service and proactively resolve concerns to enhance resident satisfaction and retention. Oversee the resident move-in, transfer, and move-out processes to ensure a seamless experience. Support interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure residents receive individualized, high-quality care. Financial Management Assume full accountability for community financial performance, including budget development, labor management, occupancy growth, expense control, and overall profitability. Monitor key financial metrics and implement strategies to improve revenue while controlling operating expenses. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and adherence to budget expectations. Oversee billing, collections, purchasing, payroll approvals, and vendor management. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, licensing requirements, and company policies. Maintain survey readiness through continuous monitoring and quality assurance. Lead regulatory inspections and implement corrective action plans when necessary. Oversee life safety programs, emergency preparedness, workplace safety initiatives, and incident management. Talent Management Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain exceptional team members. Lead performance management, coaching, employee development, succession planning, and corrective action when appropriate. Ensure all employees receive required orientation, ongoing education, and competency training. Promote a workplace culture built on respect, integrity, accountability, and professional growth. Sales & Occupancy Support Partner with the sales team to support occupancy goals through community tours, relationship development, and exceptional customer experiences. Collaborate with department leaders to ensure smooth resident transitions and successful move-ins. Support local marketing initiatives and community outreach efforts. Administrative Leadership Ensure timely completion of required reports, documentation, resident records, and operational audits. Maintain accurate resident and employee records in applicable electronic systems. Effectively utilize technology and operational software to support community performance. Participate in leadership meetings and communicate organizational priorities clearly throughout the community. Qualifications Current Assisted Living Administrator license where required by state regulations. Minimum of 3-5 years of Executive Director or comparable senior leadership experience within senior living, healthcare, hospitality, or a related service industry. Demonstrated success leading teams, improving operational performance, and achieving financial goals. Strong knowledge of assisted living regulations, quality standards, and compliance requirements. Proven leadership, communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills. Financial management experience, including budgeting, labor management, and P&L accountability. Ability to effectively prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Attributes The ideal candidate is: A servant leader who inspires and develops others.
