Hickory Hill Retirement Community - Burkeville, VA We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Administrator / Executive Director to lead Hickory Hill Retirement Community , an approximately 90-bed Assisted Living, Independent Living, and Memory Care community in Burkeville, Virginia . The Executive Director will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day operation, leadership, financial performance, regulatory compliance, resident satisfaction, and continued growth of the community. We are looking for a hands-on leader who can build a strong team, maintain high standards of resident care, and drive both operational and census performance. General Responsibilities Understand, support, and practice the mission, principles, and values of our organization. Provide leadership and direction to all community staff and maintain overall responsibility for community operations. Recruit, interview, hire, train, coach, counsel, and develop employees and department leaders. Maintain appropriate staffing levels and work closely with department heads to manage scheduling, overtime, and labor costs. Ensure compliance with all applicable Virginia state, federal, and local regulations governing Assisted Living and Memory Care operations. Maintain a strong culture of quality assurance, resident safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Work closely with clinical and operations leadership to identify areas requiring improvement and implement corrective action when necessary. Maintain open and professional communication with residents, families, employees, vendors, healthcare providers, and referral partners. Respond promptly and appropriately to resident and family concerns and ensure a high level of resident satisfaction. Oversee the financial performance of the community, including budgeting, expense management, accounts receivable, purchasing, and business office operations. Monitor community census and work closely with the sales and marketing team to increase occupancy and revenue. Develop relationships with hospitals, rehabilitation centers, physicians, home health agencies, hospice providers, and other referral sources. Ensure the physical appearance and overall condition of the community are maintained at a high standard. Provide ownership and regional leadership with regular updates regarding operations, staffing, census, financial performance, regulatory matters, and resident care. Qualifications & Experience Previous leadership experience in Assisted Living, Memory Care, Independent Living, Skilled Nursing, or Long-Term Care is strongly preferred. Previous experience as an Executive Director, Administrator, Assistant Administrator, Director of Operations, or similar senior living leadership position is preferred. Experience working with residents with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and other cognitive impairments is highly preferred. Strong understanding of senior living operations, staffing, budgeting, regulatory compliance, and resident services. Ability to recruit, motivate, manage, and hold employees accountable at all levels of the organization. Strong financial and business management skills, including experience managing budgets and community-level P&Ls. Strong sales and census-development mindset with the ability to build relationships within the local healthcare and referral community. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and leadership abilities. Must meet all Virginia regulatory requirements applicable to an Assisted Living Facility Administrator/Executive Director . We are looking for a leader who is comfortable being highly involved in the community, developing employees, building relationships with residents and families, improving census, and taking ownership of the overall success of Hickory Hill Retirement Community.
