Make a Difference in the Life of a Young Person We are seeking a self-driven, organized, compassionate, and flexible Independent Living Coordinator to work with youth ages 14-21 who have experienced or are currently in foster care . This is a home-based and community-based position focused on helping youth develop the skills, confidence, and resources needed to successfully transition to adulthood. The ideal candidate is great at building rapport with youth, comfortable working with trauma, able to maintain professional boundaries, and highly motivated to work independently with limited direct supervision. Key Responsibilities Build positive, trusting, and professional relationships with youth using a trauma-informed, youth-centered approach. Teach practical life skills such as budgeting, employment, cooking, transportation, communication, organization, and household management. Assist youth with finding and maintaining housing and connecting with community resources. Develop and facilitate age-appropriate life-skills activities and curriculum. Meet youth in appropriate community settings and identify local venues and resources for activities and learning. Participate professionally in meetings with DFS, schools, caregivers, and other service providers. Maintain accurate electronic files, progress notes, case documentation, and required reports. Manage your own caseload, schedule, appointments, travel, follow-up, and documentation while maintaining regular communication with your supervisor. What We Are Looking For- The successful candidate will be able to: Work independently and remain self-motivated without having a supervisor readily available. Create, manage, and maintain an organized schedule while remaining flexible to accommodate the changing needs and schedules of youth. Take initiative, solve problems, and seek out community resources independently. Stay on top of documentation, deadlines, appointments, and follow-up. Build rapport with youth while maintaining healthy professional boundaries and understanding that this is not a counseling or therapy position . Work patiently and professionally with youth who have experienced trauma, instability, or challenging life circumstances. Communicate effectively and professionally with youth, families, DFS, schools, and community partners. Be comfortable working from a home office, traveling throughout the service area, and meeting youth in a variety of community settings. Be proficient with computers, email, electronic files, Microsoft Office/Google Workspace, and electronic documentation. Qualifications Experience working with youth, particularly youth involved in foster care, child welfare, mentoring, case management, or independent living services, is preferred. A degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Education, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience may be considered. Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, ability to travel, and successful completion of required background checks are required.
