Responsibilities:

1. Assist in ensuring compliance with the COA's standards and guidelines. 2. Assist in coordinating activities and committees to ensure stated program goals are achieved. 3. Involved with the interview and selection of students as needed. 4. Assists in coordination of the clinical program, including but not limited to scheduling SRNAs accordingly. 5. Communicates with clinical rotation sites for evaluation of students. 6. Reviews student anesthetic management plans and aids in performing clinical and didactic evaluations of the students. 7. Acts as a professional role model for all nurse anesthesia students. 8. Promotes staff and preceptor development. Acts as a liaison between the staff and the SONA. 9. Supports PD and APD with planning and acting for students in a remediation process. 10. Participates in didactic and clinical instruction.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION

The candidate must be a graduate of a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Counsil on Accreditation for Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA). A Doctoral degree from an accredited institution of higher Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNP/DNAP) or currently enrolled in a program conferring a Doctoral Degree.

EXPERIENCE

Experience as a CRNA in a clinical role for a minimum of 1 year required, 3 years preferred. Preceptor experience required, lecture experience preferred.

LICENSURE

The candidate must be a graduate of a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Counsil on Accreditation for Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA). A Doctoral degree from an accredited institution of higher Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNP/DNAP).

SPECIAL SKILLS

Creativity, flexibility, adaptability, conflict resolution abilities are all required. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures and/or background is required. Strong computer literacy and experience with use of Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMAND A CRNA

must be able to demonstrate intellectual-conceptual, integrative and quantitative abilities; skills in observation, communication and motor functions; and mature behavioral and social attributes. Sensory

• CRNA must be able to detect and interpret changes in monitoring alarms and equipment. Functional vision, hearing, no impairment of sense of smell and tactile sensation must be adequate. CRNA must be able to observe a patient accurately at a distance and close. Communication

CRNAs should be able to stand for long periods of time and wear lead as needed for fluoroscopy, X-ray cases. CRNAs must have the ability to lift 25 pounds and reach above and below shoulder height. CRNA must be able to negotiate patient care environments and be able to move self/patients between anesthesia locations. Coordination of both gross and fine muscular movements, equilibrium, and functional use of the senses of touch and vision is required. Intellectual-Conceptual, Integrative and Quantitative Abilities

• Abilities include measurement, calculation, reasoning, analysis, and synthesis. Problem solving, the critical skill demanded requires all these intellectual abilities. CRNA should be able to comprehend 3-dimensional relationships and understand the spatial relationships. Behavioral and Social Attributes
• CRNA must possess the emotional health required for full utilization of intellectual abilities, the exercise of good judgement, the prompt completion of responsibilities,.

CRNA must be able to tolerate physically taxing workloads and to function effectively under stress and able to adapt to changing environments, display flexibility and learn to function in the face of uncertainties inherent in the clinical problems of many patients.
