ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Provides instruction through classroom theory/lecture, laboratory demonstration and skills practices, and supervised clinical sessions at a designated health care facility such as a nursing home or long-term care facility. Provides students with course syllabus including course outline, grading standards, attendance policies, and classroom behavioral expectations. Prepares lessons to teach and facilitate student learning to develop basic nursing and cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills using appropriate methods of instruction. Maintains student attendance and grading records in compliance with CCC policy and guidelines. Constructs exams and assignments to evaluate student learning. Evaluates student progress and provides students with timely feedback. Responsible for student evaluation and timely and accurate submission of grades and paperwork related to instruction Maintains a purposeful, orderly, safe, and healthy classroom environment. Consults with program coordinator to resolve issues Performs related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Associate Degree and the completion of the BNA Instructor Train-the-Trainer course required. Bachelor in Nursing or higher, completion of BNA Instructor Train-the-Trainer course preferred . Must have valid Registered Professional Nursing Illinois license. Two years of experience as a registered nurse (RN). Must have experience as a RN in at least one of the following areas: 1. teaching theory in an accredited nurse training program; or 2. providing nursing care, including personal care and activities of daily living, to older adults or chronically ill adults. IDPH approved Illinois Evaluator Certification and ability to complete a Department-sponsored Approved Evaluator Workshop refresher course every five years Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS healthcare provider CPR certification preferred. Experience with technologies used for Instruction such as Blackboard or D2L. Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse group of staff and students, required Experience with a diverse, multi-lingual student population is desired, as is a commitment to the open access mission of the community college
