Academic Job Description Summary:

The School of Nursing at the University of Kansas Medical Center seeks a nurse educator for a faculty role in the baccalaureate nursing program on the Salina, Kansas campus. This part-time (12-month appointment), non-tenure earning faculty position reports to the Salina Campus Dean.

Job Description:

Job Duties Teach undergraduate nursing students in a variety of courses and settings (didactic courses, online courses, clinical settings, simulation, and clinical laboratory settings) in the undergraduate nursing program. Participate in ongoing course and curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation activities. Coordinate and schedule practicum/clinical requirements for Salina students. Collaborate with practicum/clinical sites and KU-SON Compliance office to ensure all student requirements are met for clinical placements. Participate in service-related activities (serving on committees/task forces, mentoring students, assigning clinical placements, etc.) to support the mission of the school. Collaborate with other KU nursing faculty on both campuses. Develop and implements special projects as necessary. Required Qualifications Education:

Master's degree in nursing. This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements, institutional standards of academic and professional excellence, alignment with peer institution benchmarks, and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.

Certifications/Licenses:

Registered nurse (RN) license from the Kansas State Board of Nursing (or be eligible for a RN license in Kansas).

Work Experience:

One (1) year of clinical instruction experience. One (1) year of relevant clinical experience.

Preferred Qualifications Education:

Doctorate degree in nursing.

Work Experience:

One (1) year of teaching experience in a prelicensure program. One (1) year of teaching experience in a simulation laboratory setting. Experience serving as or collaborating with clinical preceptors. One (1) year of healthcare experience serving rural populations.
