Position Information Job Title Adjunct Instructor of Nurse Aide I Job Description This is a part-time instructor position teaching Nurse Aide I courses in the Workforce Development and Community Education. Full Time or Part Time Part Time Essential Duties Summary Job duties will include: Prepares course materials; uses appropriate teaching techniques including delivering lectures, leading discussions, and conducting laboratory demonstrations; and performs other activities, which are related to and meet the requirements of the courses. Conducts evaluations of student performance and assigns grades on the basis of such evaluations. Maintains records of student attendance and grades according to college policy and procedure. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required to meet course objectives. Required Qualifications 1. Registered Nurse with an unencumbered license. 2. Licensed to practice nursing in North Carolina. 3. Has at least two (2) years (4000 hours) of experience as a Registered Nurse in the United States. 4. Meets at least one (1) of the following: completion of a course in teaching adults; or experience in teaching adults; or experience in supervising nurse aides. Preferred Qualifications Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes. Experience in a community college setting. Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems. Physical Demands Work is primarily performed under general supervision in an office or classroom setting with appropriate climate controls. Travel, early morning, evening, and weekend work may be required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions of this position. The physical and mental demands described as follows are representative of those that must be met by an employee in performing the essential functions of this job: Essential functions: Positions require lifting, manual dexterity, ability to communicate, ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods, ability to move between classrooms, buildings, and campuses, ability to express or exchange ideas, and good eye/hand dexterity.
Light Work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Requires walking, standing, sitting with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls.
Mental Application:
Utilizes memory for details and content of the discipline, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability, and creative problem-solving skills are important.
