A Nursing Instructor or Professor teaches nursing students with a combination of classroom instruction and clinical training. Teaches academic subjects needed as the foundation for nursing, such as anatomy and chemistry, and also job skills required for direct patient care. Teaches at a college or in a hospital or other clinical setting.
SUMMARY Teaches a full range of skills and knowledge required of Workforce Fast-track Healthcare Training program offerings for the Health Industry Solutions Department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide leadership, supervision, and control of classroom activities Develop and implement an effective curriculum to enhance the learning options of program participants Monitor attendance, maintain records, score and evaluate educational performance of participants When appropriate identify and refer participants for supportive services to enhance student success Participate in training sessions and/or attend regional/state conferences for professional development when needed Performs other related duties as needed
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
RN or LPN with a current, active unencumbered/unrestricted LPN license Minimum of two years' experience (year defined as a minimum of 1600 hours) of registered nurse (RN) or Licensed Professional Nurse (LPN) delivering geriatric or chronic care of all ages. Demonstrated experience in a long-term care facility, home care, assisted living, home health agency, or hospital providing care on a geriatric psychiatric unit. Requires NATCEP Train-the-Trainer certification before instruction in a class for a registered nurse (RN). KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and
