DESCRIPTION

New England Institute of Technology is seeking an experienced and motivated educator to join our Nursing Department team, supporting our Pediatrics courses in the Practical Nursing Certificate and Associate Degree RN programs. NEIT's current accredited nursing programs emphasize innovative teaching strategies and evidence-based practice to meet the demands of the increasingly complex healthcare delivery system. It also strives to improve patient safety and quality in care delivery. Our faculty are committed to educating nursing students who will be leaders in health care as registered nurses.

ACCOUNTABILITY

Work under the direction of Nursing Program Administration (Practical Nursing Program Director/Assistant Director of Nursing) as well as the Director of Nursing.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

NEIT Adjunct Faculty have primary responsibility for educating and training our students in the subject area(s) for which they are contracted to teach, ensuring that their learning is sufficient to achieve a level of competence which students, their prospective employers, and our society expect from a college graduate at the associate and baccalaureate degree levels.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Adjunct Faculty are contracted on a 10-week term basis and are expected to contribute and participate as follows: 1. Teach clinical courses in their area of expertise while demonstrating proficiency in subject areas. 2. Exercise judgment and resourcefulness in helping lead faculty design and implement active learning strategies for the classroom and clinical setting 3. Develop skills in clinical judgment showing flexibility, and critical thinking, which engage students as active learners. 4. Incorporate principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion into teaching and learning strategies. 5. Assist students with utilization of supportive technology, including simulation equipment, Electronic Health Records, Assessment Technologies Institute products, etc. 6. Exercise effective classroom/clinical management skills while demonstrating respect for all students. 7. Evaluate students' accomplishments with appropriate assessment instruments. 8. Be familiar with all college policies, regulations, and procedures as stated in the Employee handbook, the Orientation Handbook for New Faculty, and the NEIT Intranet. 9. Be responsible for delivering 10 weeks of clinical course content for the term, as assigned. 10. Newly appointed adjunct faculty are required to participate in the Online University Orientation

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Adjunct Faculty must possess the following qualifications, knowledge, and skills to be able to demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job: 1. At least a Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution. 2. Unencumbered current Rhode Island Nursing License 3. Recent clinical experience (last 2 years) in a nursing discipline. 4. College or university teaching experience preferred 5. Current CPR certification by the American Heart Association. 6.
