Posting Details Position Summary Information Posting Number P2337 Job Title Adjunct Faculty - Nursing Students Only No Job Description Summary Western Wyoming College is seeking a highly motivated individual to become an Adjunct Nursing Faculty. Applicant will be responsible for fostering student learning through effectively instructing students in the WWCC Nursing Program. The primary responsibility of this individual is to provide quality instruction to WWCC students enrolled in a variety of classes. Teaching a course over distance education medium, such as Internet is also a common expectation. This individual must be able to relate to a wide variety of students in the community college environment. This individual's responsibilities may include teaching courses in the Nursing Assistant, PN Certificate, and ADN Nursing Program. Travel is required. Additional duties will be dependent upon qualifications and interests of the applicant and the needs of the department.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Provides quality classroom, lab and clinical instruction to students in assigned courses, including but not limited to course work in the Associate Degree Nursing Program, Practical Nursing Certificate, Nursing Assistant, and other health related fields. May teach up to 9 credit hours per semester. 2. Provides quality learning experiences for all students in accordance with their needs and abilities while maintaining the basic integrity of the course's standards and objectives. This may include continuing education offerings. 3. Provides a safe environment and adheres to safety standards of practice established within the discipline. 4. Utilizes syllabi, evaluation tools, and other course materials provided by the AD Nursing Program, PN Certificate, or Nursing Assistant Course to meet program standards. 5. Teaches courses in a variety of environments and modes as required. Examples include teaching in the evening, teaching in the clinical setting, teaching using active learning approaches through alternative methods, distance delivery modalities, and teaching away from the main campus. Courses may be offered in the fall, spring or summer semesters and on varying schedules, and may meet during the day, evening, weekend, or at one of WWC's outreach centers. 6. Develops good working relationships with professionals in this discipline in the College's service area in order to solicit cooperation and support for curricular planning and other functions. 7. Designs and implements effective learning processes for students; provides feedback on student improvement in attaining the College's Learning Goals. 8. Learns to communicate clearly and effectively using the college network system, Canvas, and word-processing; integrates learning with technology into the classroom as appropriate. 9. Refers students to the resources in the College Learning Center, Peer Tutor Center, Library, Career and Placement Services, and Wellness & Accessibility Center. 10. Maintains an inventory of all assigned equipment and supplies in assigned areas; takes prudent efforts to safeguard WWC physical resources from unauthorized use. Maintains safe working conditions and practices. 11. Submits syllabi, student evaluations, grades, and other required information in a timely manner. Completes and submits re-certification documents in a timely manner to the Director of Nursing and End of Year Evaluations as requested by the Division Chair. 12. Actively participates in Nursing Faculty, Advisory Board, and other meetings throughout the academic year. 13. Travels throughout the College's service area including Evanston, Rawlins, Rock Springs, Star Valley, and other locations. 14. Participates in relevant College wide in-service activities. Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications 1. Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with a Master of Science degree in Nursing or a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and currently holds a minimum of 18 credit hours in Mater's prepared course work. 2. Must hold an active, unencumbered, single-state Wyoming or multi-state registered nurse license. 3. Two years of relevant clinical experience. 4. Comprehensive knowledge of the concepts, technologies, principles and practices of nursing. 5. Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and administrators. 6. Able to exercise sound judgment in all facets of the student-teacher relationship and to teach a diverse group of community college students. 7. Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills. 8. Able to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check. 9. Provides evidence of continued professional development. 10. Complete agency requirements for immunization and additional training if assigned to clinical instruction. Additionally, all faculty are required to - or will before beginning instruction - be current on any relevant professional certifications expected within the discipline. Faculty will hold all reasonable and relevant certifications as identified by the full-time faculty in the academic discipline. Preferred Qualifications Preferred Qualifications 1. Demonstrated teaching excellence at a community college. 2. Experience using active approaches to learning; experience using alternative methods of learning, such as interactive software, internet, or individualized modular programs. 3. Work experience in the clinical practice of nursing within the past five years.
