As a Unit Manager, you will serve as a key liaison between staff, patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams, fostering a positive and safe environment for all. Duties Oversee daily operations of the nursing unit, ensuring smooth workflow and optimal patient care delivery Supervise and mentor nursing staff, including scheduling, performance evaluations, and ongoing education Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations such as HIPAA, long-term care regulations, and state healthcare laws Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, catheterizations, and manage ventilator support as needed Coordinate discharge planning, case management, and utilization review to optimize patient outcomes Maintain accurate medical documentation using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Cerner or Epic; ensure medical records are complete and compliant Lead infection control initiatives, sterile processing procedures, and aseptic techniques to promote patient safety Facilitate interdisciplinary communication for complex cases involving critical & intensive care or behavioral health needs Manage medical documentation related to ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases), CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications Skills Extensive experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, neonatal ventilator management, and individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Athenahealth; familiarity with medical imaging and laboratory experience preferred Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, medical terminology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques Demonstrated leadership in nurse management roles with supervising experience in acute care settings or long-term care facilities Skilled in critical & intensive care procedures including airway management, spinal taps, gastric lavage, tube feeding, catheter care, venipuncture, phlebotomy and suturing Ability to perform physical assessments accurately while adhering to HIPAA standards for confidentiality Experience working within hospital medicine environments such as Level I & II Trauma Centers or emergency medicine units is highly desirable Knowledge of ICD-10 coding standards; experience with utilization review & utilization management processes is advantageous Competence in managing complex cases involving cardiac catheterization or occupational health protocols; familiarity with DME (Durable Medical Equipment) procedures is a plus Excellent managerial communication skills to lead teams effectively while ensuring compliance with nursing policies and safety protocols Join us as a Registered Nurse - Unit Manager where your expertise will inspire excellence in patient care while leading a dedicated team.
