Job Description

Position Summary Join Phoenix Children's as a founding team member at our new East Valley Campus and help shape the future of pediatric inpatient care. The East Valley MedSurg/PICU (MOSU) unit will initially open with 24 inpatient beds, including 8 pediatric ICU beds, and will expand by an additional 24 inpatient beds as the campus continues to grow. We are seeking an experienced nursing leader with a strong background in pediatric MedSurg, critical care, or inpatient nursing operations who is passionate about building teams, developing culture, and delivering exceptional patient and family-centered care. This is a unique opportunity to help recruit and onboard staff, establish workflows, support operational readiness, and create a high-performing unit from the ground up. The Manager will oversee daily operations, quality and safety initiatives, employee engagement, staffing, regulatory compliance, and professional development while partnering closely with leaders across both the East Valley and Thomas Campuses. Qualified candidates must possess a BSN, current BLS certification from the American Heart Association, an active Arizona RN license (or compact RN license), and at least five years of nursing leadership experience. A national nursing certification is preferred and must be obtained within one year of hire if not already held. Candidates selected for this role must be willing to train and work at the Thomas Campus while supporting planning and operational readiness activities leading up to the East Valley Campus opening. The Manager, Clinical Service promotes family-centered care by subscribing to and supporting Phoenix Children's mission and values. This position manages, evaluates and supervises operational functions and activities of an assigned area by guiding and supporting staff. The Manager, Clinical Service also serves as a liaison with other departments to plan, implement, communicate, evaluate and coordinate patient care operations across the enterprise, while also facilitating quick resolution of issues to ensure excellence in a family centered care environment. Education Bachelor's in Nursing. (Required) Master's degree in related field. (Preferred) Experience Five years of experience in the specialty area or with a pediatric patient population to include leadership and / or supervisory responsibilities. (Required) Certifications Current AZ RN license or an RN license from a compact state with multistate privileges or the ability to establish licensure to Arizona law prior to start date. (Required) Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association. (Required) PALS certification from the American Heart Association within one year of hire. (Preferred) National nursing or related certification (e.g.
CPN, CCRN, CNML
) (Preferred) Special Skills Analytical and statistical skills necessary to develop and monitor unit operating and personnel budgets. (Required) Demonstrates critical thinking and problem solving abilities in order to resolve complex clinical, systems and personnel problems and issues which affect the unit and inpatient departments (Required) Demonstrates critical thinking and problem solving abilities in order to resolve complex clinical, systems and personnel problems and issues which affect the unit and inpatient departments. (Preferred) Must be able to assume 24-hour accountability for unit coverage. (Required)
