Position Title:
Endoscopy RN Manager Position Purpose To coordinate the daily functioning routine of the Endoscopy Department and to ensure quality care and outcomes consistent with the mission of the facility. The Endoscopy Manager is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and coordinating patient care from admission to discharge in the endoscopy setting. Responsible for the achievement of patient outcomes in accordance with the mission of the surgery center. Serves as a role model and a resource to all staff.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
: Director of Nursing and Endoscopy Department Personnel (RNs, Techs, PCTs, CNAs) As a representative of North Valley Surgery Center, all comments, attitudes, actions and behaviors have a direct effect on the facilities image and perceptions of quality service. Interaction with patients, families, physicians, referral sources, affiliating schools, visitors, co-workers, supervisors, vendors, etc. must be in a manner that is friendly, supportive, courteous, respectful, cooperative, and professional. This behavior should promote an atmosphere of teamwork, which is congruent with facility standards and guidelines to promote positive relations.
QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS
Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current nursing license in the State of Arizona. Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred Comprehensive knowledge of nursing, health care practices and techniques. Three to five years of clinical nursing experience in an endoscopy setting. Two years of management experience. Knowledge and understanding of the standards, rules and regulations pertaining to outpatient procedures. Successful completion of BLS Course within 30 days of employment or documentation of current BLS certification. Successful completion of ACLS and PALS certification within 90 days of employment or documentation of current certification. Demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills, high level management skills and familiarity with standards for the care and management of the patient undergoing endoscopic procedures. Demonstrate continuous learning through use of various sources to meet personal and professional goals. Maintains professional affiliations, attends outside conferences, seminars and workshops. Demonstrate the ability to foster an environment that promotes the ongoing development and professional growth of the clinical staff. The Endoscopy Manager will demonstrate the ability to handle the daily management of Pre-op, Procedural and PACU and will possess above average physical and mental health and can handle stressful situations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinates daily scheduled activities in all clinical areas in the department including the directing of patient care and patient flow. Develops and implements a staffing plan which promotes quality patient care and cost effectiveness. Provides orientation and direction for all newly hired personnel and assures the compliance with all current policies and procedures. Prepares staff schedules in a timely manner, monitors PTO, approves overtime. Ensures that staff receives required annual training to include but not limited to: OSHA, Privacy Standards, Fire and Life Safety, Blood borne pathogen exposure and Infection Control. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of all equipment in Pre-Op/PACU area and ensure preventative maintenance on area equipment is completed. Assist the Director of Nursing in updating current policies and procedures and developing policies and procedures as needed to ensure the best patient care is being provided. Develop and implement continuing education programs. Ensure that nursing documentation is legible, accurate and complete. Acts as a resource person to the staff to ensure quality patient care, employee performance, job satisfaction, and to permit the Surgery Center to comply with the expectations of all regulatory agencies including accrediting agencies. Maintains job descriptions and competency checklists for clinical personnel and ensures competency on an annual basis. Evaluates work performance and clinical competency of personnel on a timely basis and makes recommendations for promotions. Coaches staff concerning their work performance; holds staff accountable for performance Assumes responsibility for personal improvement and continual improvement of nursing personnel and staff knowledge and competence. Maintains effective, on-going, and timely communication with staff and maintains records of meetings. Makes recommendations for staffing, supply and capital budget needs of the unit. Monitors unit budget in collaboration with Director of Nursing. Participates in annual staffing plan/budget review process. Utilizes effective conflict-resolution strategies when dealing with staff, physicians, and family members. Establishes pleasant work environment conducive to teamwork, growth, and recognition Able to perform nursing duties and to otherwise augment the staff, as necessary. Serve as a member of the Quality Assessment/Performance Improvement/Risk Management Committee to include ascertaining pertinent information for committees, conducting research projects, evaluating new products, writing reports and communicating results. Works well with others to accomplish duties. Schedules emergency drills and ensures staff attendance. Schedules routine staff meetings to ensure on-going communication. Develops and acts to maintain positive personal attitudes and professional working relationships with Charge Nurses, the staff, patients, and physicians. Assists the surgery center to continue to improve to provide smooth and effective operations. Complies with all applicable laws, rules, ordinances, codes, and directives applicable to ambulatory surgery. Provides timely and effective communication regarding the status, completion, and obstacles (if any) required by the duties assigned. Secures confidential and privileged information, communication only through designed channels to designated persons. Effectively, timely and positively carries out other duties which may be here after assigned.

ATTENDANCE 1.
Follows established surgery center policies and procedures with regard to attendance. a. Maintains attendance according to guidelines and policy established by facility b. Adheres to tardiness policy c. Provides notification for unscheduled absences or tardiness to management within 1-2 hours prior to start of scheduled shift.

Clinical equipment used for patient care.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Work is indoors in climate-controlled environment. Patient care environment with potential exposure to unpleasant odors, to blood and body fluids which may carry infection, to infectious disease, and to chemical and electrical hazards. Occasional exposure to outdoor climate.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Good visual acuity, accurate color vision. Ability to lift/transfer patients in excess of 200 pounds, which may require pushing, pulling and essentially utilizing a full range of body movement. Ability to push a gurney with a 200-pound patient on it. Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl. Ability to reach, grasp, use fine finger movement and feel fine sensation to discern temperature, texture, size and shape. Ability to speak and hear.
DEGREE OF SUPERVISON PROVIDED TO POSITION
Minimal. Must be self-directed and able to work independently.
