Job Description

MLK Community Hospital seeks a Nurse Manager for our EmPATH unit to lead a multidisciplinary team delivering compassionate emergency psychiatric and behavioral health care. The Nurse Manager oversees daily operations, staffing, clinical quality, and patient flow while ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and evidence based practices. This leader will mentor and develop nursing staff, foster a culture of safety, equity, and respect, and collaborate closely with physicians, social workers, and community partners to improve outcomes for underserved patients in South Los Angeles. Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day operations of the Em PATH unit, ensuring safe, efficient patient care and flow. Supervise, schedule, and develop nursing staff, providing coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations. Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and evidence-based clinical protocols. Monitor quality, safety, and patient experience metrics; lead improvement initiatives. Collaborate with physicians, social workers, and other disciplines to coordinate comprehensive care plans. Manage staffing levels, acuity-based assignments, and resource utilization within budget parameters. Support crisis intervention, de-escalation, and trauma-informed care practices for behavioral health patients. Lead onboarding, education, and competency validation for nursing staff in the Em PATH unit. Foster a mission-driven, patient-first culture grounded in equity, respect, and accountability. Participate in strategic planning, reporting, and initiatives to enhance behavioral health services.
