Job Description

Aspen Valley Hospital seeks a Nurse Manager to lead a clinical unit in our community-focused, critical access hospital. The Nurse Manager oversees daily operations, staffing, and patient flow while ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care. Responsibilities include supervising and mentoring nursing staff, coordinating interdisciplinary care, managing budgets and resources, and driving quality and safety initiatives. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, patient-first leader who thrives in a close-knit, team-oriented environment and is committed to continuous improvement, professional development, and supporting exceptional care for local residents and visitors. Responsibilities Lead and manage daily operations of an inpatient or clinical unit Supervise, schedule, and mentor nursing staff to ensure optimal coverage Oversee delivery of safe, evidence-based, patient-centered care Coordinate interdisciplinary care with physicians and allied health professionals Monitor and improve quality, safety, and regulatory compliance metrics Manage unit budgets, staffing levels, and resource allocation Support onboarding, training, and professional development of staff Engage in performance evaluations and corrective action when needed Facilitate effective communication with patients, families, and the care team Participate in hospital-wide initiatives to improve patient outcomes and experience Required Skills Clinical nursing practice in acute care settings Nursing leadership and staff supervision Patient care coordination and discharge planning Quality improvement and patient safety practices Budgeting and staffing/resource management Electronic health record (EHR) systems Regulatory and compliance knowledge (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS) Performance management and coaching Interdisciplinary team collaboration Data analysis for quality and operational metrics
