Director of Nursing (DON) About North Shore Health & Rehabilitation North Shore Health & Rehabilitation is a compassionate skilled nursing and rehabilitation center in Loveland, Colorado, dedicated to providing high-quality, dignified care since 1970. We specialize in long-term care, short-term rehabilitation, physical therapy, and post-acute services, with a strong focus on resident-centered care, teamwork, and a supportive family-like environment. Position Summary The Charge Nurse provides leadership and direct resident care on an assigned unit/shift in our skilled nursing facility. This role supervises nursing staff (including RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and other team members), ensures high-quality clinical care in compliance with state and federal regulations, and promotes a positive, resident-focused environment. The Charge Nurse serves as a key clinical resource, coordinates care, and responds to emergencies while maintaining excellent standards of practice. Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise the nursing team during assigned shift, including delegation of tasks, staff assignments, and performance oversight Conduct resident assessments, monitor health status, and identify changes in condition; promptly notify physicians, family members, and leadership as needed Administer medications, treatments, and procedures in accordance with physician orders, facility policies, and scope of practice Develop, update, and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary team (therapy, dietary, social services, etc.) Ensure accurate and timely documentation in electronic health records (EHR) and compliance with all regulatory requirements (CMS, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, etc.) Respond to emergencies, initiate appropriate protocols, and coordinate with emergency services when necessary Promote infection control, safety, and quality assurance practices; participate in audits and performance improvement initiatives Foster positive relationships with residents, families, and staff; address concerns and support a culture of compassion and respect Orient and mentor new staff members and provide ongoing education and support to the nursing team Act as a liaison between shifts, communicating key information to oncoming staff and leadership
Qualifications Required:
Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Colorado Current CPR/BLS certification Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational abilities Commitment to resident dignity, quality care, and regulatory compliance
Preferred:
