This pivotal role involves overseeing nursing staff, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and delivering exceptional patient care to individuals battling substance use challenges. Duties Lead and supervise nursing teams, fostering a collaborative and motivated work environment dedicated to high-quality SUD treatment. Oversee patient assessments, ensuring thorough evaluations of physical health, mental status, and substance use history using medical terminology and physiology knowledge. Coordinate care plans aligned with best practices, including medication administration, IV infusion, catheter care, and tube feeding as appropriate for individual needs. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, state healthcare laws, long-term care regulations, and nursing policy standards across all clinical activities. Manage documentation processes utilizing EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Cerner or Athenahealth to maintain accurate medical records and ensure proper coding (ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT). Facilitate discharge planning, case management, and utilization review to optimize patient outcomes and resource utilization. Conduct staff training on infection control, aseptic technique, medical imaging procedures, and emergency protocols including airway management and ventilator support. Monitor clinical quality metrics related to patient care, vital signs assessment, medication administration accuracy, and compliance with nursing policies. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support behavioral health initiatives focusing on dementia care, memory care, or working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays. Promote a culture of continuous improvement by implementing evidence-based practices in acute care settings such as ICU or trauma centers when applicable. Experience Proven nurse management experience within sub-acute care environments. Demonstrated expertise working with diverse patient populations behavioral health patients, or individuals with developmental disabilities. Familiarity with medical office procedures and EMR/EHR systems is essential for documentation accuracy. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding for procedures such as suturing or gastric lavage. Experience managing teams in settings requiring adherence to HIPAA standards and state healthcare regulations while maintaining high standards of patient safety and quality of care. Prior involvement in discharge planning, utilization review/management processes including DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) coding is highly desirable. Ability to perform comprehensive physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations while demonstrating excellent managerial communication skills. Knowledge of regulations combined with experience supervising nursing staff in residential care preferred.
