Job Description

OhioHealth is seeking a Nurse Supervisor to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will oversee daily nursing operations, ensure high-quality, patient-centered care, and support clinical staff through coaching, mentoring, and performance management. You will coordinate staffing, collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams, and promote evidence-based practice and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities Provide daily leadership and supervision for nursing staff on assigned unit, ensuring safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. Oversee patient flow, bed management, and staffing assignments to support optimal clinical operations. Mentor, coach, and support nurses and support staff, promoting professional development and adherence to best practices. Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate and optimize patient care plans. Monitor clinical quality, patient safety indicators, and infection prevention practices; implement corrective actions as needed. Participate in hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and performance evaluation of nursing team members. Ensure compliance with Ohio Health policies, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards, including documentation and reporting. Foster an inclusive, compassionate unit culture aligned with Ohio Health's mission, values, and diversity, equity, and inclusion priorities. Engage in and encourage evidence-based practice, process improvement, and innovation to enhance patient outcomes and team efficiency. Serve as an on-unit clinical resource, responding to escalations, complex cases, patient or family concerns, and crisis situations. Support and promote staff education, competency validation, and ongoing professional and leadership development. Collaborate with leadership on budget awareness, resource utilization, and equipment and supply needs for the unit. Required Skills Clinical nursing practice in acute care (e.g., med-surg, telemetry, step-down, or specialty unit as applicable) Nursing leadership and team supervision Patient flow and bed management Staff scheduling and workload balancing Electronic health record (EHR) documentation (e.g., Epic or similar) Care coordination and interdisciplinary collaboration Quality improvement and patient safety methodologies Infection prevention and control practices Critical thinking and clinical decision-making Conflict resolution and de-escalation Performance feedback and coaching Regulatory compliance (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS) Time management and prioritization Effective written and verbal communication Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office or similar)
