Job Description
Job Summary Van Buren County Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team as a Night House Supervisor. This full-time leadership position works three 12-hour night shifts (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday), providing four consecutive days off each week while serving as the administrative and clinical leader during overnight hospital operations. If you're an experienced RN who enjoys leadership, problem-solving, mentoring staff, and making critical decisions in a collaborative healthcare environment, we'd love to hear from you. Essential Responsibilities Provide administrative and clinical leadership during assigned night shifts. Coordinate staffing assignments based on patient census, acuity, and operational needs. Support nursing staff with clinical decision-making and operational guidance. Respond to patient care concerns, emergencies, and operational issues throughout the hospital. Collaborate with providers, nursing staff, EMS, and ancillary departments to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care. Assist with admissions, patient placement, transfers, and discharge coordination. Promote patient safety, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance. Mentor and support nursing staff while fostering teamwork and professional accountability. Provide direct patient care when needed to support safe hospital operations. Qualifications Required Current Iowa RN license (or Compact State eligibility) Current BLS certification ACLS certification (or ability to obtain within one year) Minimum three years of acute care nursing experience Preferred BSN Previous Charge Nurse or House Supervisor experience TNCC and/or PALS certification Critical Access Hospital experience Epic experience Why Van Buren County Hospital?
