Your Everyday Participate in the daily operations of your department under the supervision of a nurse manager/director. Maintain knowledge of and act as a resource for clinical practices and departmental operations. Audit, report, and educate your team about meeting professional and JCAHO requirements for nursing documentation. Prepare, monitor, and modify staff schedules with the approval of the appropriate manager/director and according to department needs and appropriate skill mix. Conduct new employee orientation, develop materials, assign preceptors, and conduct assessments as needed. Provide input for performance evaluations and handle personnel matters as delegated by department manager/director. Work in collaboration with the leader(s) in interviewing and selecting candidates for open positions. Attend recruitment events and represent the department when requested. Maintain standards of team accountability for hospital policies and procedures and delivery of care services. Inspect department and conduct patient, safety and environmental rounds. Participate in and monitor compliance of core measure initiatives and quality standards.
