Charge RN - Nursery

Job Description

Full time position for Charge RN in the Nursery. S ign on Bonus for full time positions! Under direction, provides direct nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process, performs technical nursing functions and upholds the standard of practice of a professional nurse in caring for infant through geriatric patients. Responsible for managing all aspects of nursing responsibilities during each shift. Delegates assignments and provides supervision for the support staff in accordance with their level of training and patient's acuity. Works in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members to ensure the quality of patient care. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Utilizes the nursing process as the basis for nursing care. Provides direct patient care. Performs nursing functions, applying professional skills. Documents and maintains date on patient's record. Maintains a safe environment. Applies basic teaching / learning concepts to patient education. Provides for life support. Acts as a patient advocate. Cooperates as a member of the nursing unit, department and overall hospital team. Participates in performance improvement. Delegates and / or supervises aspects of care to team members and reviews completion. Performs related work as required. Communicates pertinent data to appropriate parties. Maintains patient confidentiality. Conducts himself/herself effectively in stressful situations. Approaches situations with distressed patients, families, and visitors in a calm, professional manner. Collaborates with physicians and nurses to devise individualized care plans for patients. Properly assesses and manages patient populations with appropriate intervention. Administers intravenous medications and parenteral nutrition. Administers blood products and evaluates patient response. Supervises nursing staff and monitoring their needs. Coordinates nursing assignments and patient care. Oversees patient admissions, transfers, and discharges. Mentors new staff and provides support and guidance to all staff members. Ensures compliance with all health and safety regulations. Identifies issues or emergent matters and responds in a calm and effective manner.
Education:
Associate of Nursing Program is required. Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
License & Certifications:
Louisiana Board Registered Nurse license required. CPR required. PALS and ACLS preferred. Additional Experience Preferred NRP certification
REQUIRED.
Current knowledge of clinical practice. Ability to operate and handle many kinds of complex equipment. Ability to demonstrate clinical competence and maintain current knowledge in caring for neonate patients. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of theory, principles, techniques, and practice of professional nursing; of scientific principles and nursing research; of preparation, administration, and actions of medications; of treatments and medical procedures; of counseling and teaching techniques; of medical equipment as it relates to patient care. Two years of RN experience in area of specialty is required.
